How I found cure to my Asthma

The Beginning I am 40 years old and have suffered from asthma from childhood. Many in my family had asthma and its clearly a case of hereditary. I am told that the first time I developed symptoms was as a 5 year old child. Since my family had the know how to deal with it , I was given Broncho dilators and inhalers. I had several episodes that year and was hospitalized also once Till 18 I wasn’t permanently asthmatic but kept having episodes now and then. Several alternative medicines were tried including Ayurveda , homeopath, different milks etc but nothing worked. I had several severe attacks and was administered injections when the breathing became extremely labored. Permanently Asthmatic Around the age of 21 I moved to delhi and in a year or two I became permanently asthmatic. Every morning I had to take salbutamol inhaler. Soon the salbutamol inhaler stopped working and I was put on a long acting rotacaps – flucticasone + salmeterol. I got a lot of relief. Every morning I used to get up with heady chest and the inhaler would remove the tightness and next 24 hours were easy Bad to worse After 10 years on the rotacaps , I gained 30 kgs and also felt irritable. I was continuously on anti-allergic and would sneeze and scratch without the anti-allergic. I could not live a day without the medicines. In bad episodes the rotacap would not work and I was put on nebulization of budesonide respules. I also noticed that hot water shower and hot foods aggravated my asthma which was unconventional. I always had exercise induced asthma but walking on gradient eased the breathing. Perfumes made me choke. The first realization – On path to cure During my severe episodes when I was on budesonide , I was off fluticasone . I noticed that during that episode I did not require anti-allergic. Oh my god the flucticasone inhaler was the reason for the permanent allergy – red eyes, sneezing, itching. The problem was how to get off the long acting inhaler. I researched long and understood that asthma could be due to what surrounds you and what you eat. My Experiments I started to experiment. I removed the curtains which were dusty , removed the plastic separator in shower. I stopped and restarted foods in all this process I discovered that besides curtains and dusty bedsheets , the following foods caused immediate asthma attacks; Coffee , Tea , Garlic , nuts , sugar , gourd, kesar , soy , milk ( moderate), mangoes, melons , grapes etc. I tried to remove these foods from my diet and was able to get off flucticasone inhaler . I was only on salmeterol rotacap now. These foods provided me relief – Haldi powder ( curcumin) , chewing cloves , spinach, promogrnate juice. Still I had to take inhaler once a day. The Cure Now I was aware of everything I ate and its effects on my asthama. With onset of covid I started using half a tea spoon rock salt in my pomogrenate juice. I suddenly felt much better. Also as luck would have it I started a calcium supplement of calcium citrate 1000mg + vit D 3 500 iu, one tablet per day. After a couple of days I realized that I woke up breathing easy , which was a new experience to me since as long as I recall I used to get up with a heavy chest. Already aware of the path to cure , I was ecstatic. I consumed foods which gave asthma and consumed the supplement. There was 80% immediate effect. Wow was I suffering from calcium + d3 deficiency, not really my reports showed both were not deficient. As a child I used to eat chalks but never knew why. This was maybe an issue. I continue to take the calcium supplement and rock salt and I am off asthama and also helps sos if I consume highly allergic foods. I have been off inhalers for the first time in 35 years. My two cents For all asthmatics I would say this that its combination of food and dust and some genetic deficiency. Become aware , observe what I causing your attack and finally try different supplements the deficiency of which is making your system act funny. You can try the same ingredients as I am doing or try your own combination. I am sharing my journey and will continue to do so as I don’t wont anyone in the world to experience this debilitating disease.

Ode to Poppy didi

Poppy , a Beautiful Flower,
thats what you were

Colours Red , Yellow, Purple , Pink
and more there were

A twinkle here, a smile there ,
chimes , bells , tinkles every where.

Dreams, promises, life,
blossoms bloomed every where

Alas it snowed too soon,
winter fangs covered poppy fields

From dawn to sunset glow , Poppy shall bloom,
in some other place and field.

How to Disintegrate Pakistan.

The biggest political event in the world post world war II was the end of cold war in 1991. Unthinkable happened, US defeated USSR without the all-out nuclear war. Americans watched in disbelief as once the mighty Soviet empire collapsed without US firing a Bullet. The holocaust predictors were stunned. Theorists of Nuclear balance and stalemate vanished overnight.

India – Pak rivalry too is a similar equation. Nuclear armed and Revisionist Pakistan rattles its sabres against a Nuclear armed India. Pundits shake their head in futility of the Situation for India. What can India do to a Nuclear armed Pakistan? India cannot afford a conventional war as it will snowball into a Nuclear war.

In the whole story what is conveniently forgotten is the Economic frailty of Pakistan and the Economic prowess of India. The current Indian Forex reserves stand at USD 371 bn as against Pakistan Forex reserves of USD 21 Bn. The foreign debt of Pakistan is 50% of its GDP. Pakistan is facing a repayment of USD 50bn in 2016. Yet Pakistan is acting and India complaining.

US won the cold war by spending huge amounts on weapons. USSR got bankrupted in trying to keep up with the US spending. The Economic collapse, resulted in disintegration of USSR, which resulted in end of Cold war.

It’s time for India to call the Pakistani bluff and make the move. India should up the stakes in the Indian subcontinent. Purchase or manufacture, hundreds of F-35s , Pak FA’s , Awac’s , Kamov Helicopters, Thousands of latest tanks, Artillery, modernise Infantry, get 50 + new Submarines, 10 + aircraft carriers, BMD’s over the period of next 10-15 years.

Panicked Pakistan will increase its spending much beyond its means. USD 20Bn of forex reserves will not stop it from spending to achieve parity / balance. This will lead Pakistan to Bankruptcy and the fate of USSR will await it. Volatile Pakistan will disintegrate into smaller parts like Baluchistan, Sind, Gilgit , Kashmir , Punjab etc. India will win the cold war.

Its time India decides to swallow the bitter Pill to cure this tumour.

On Jagjit Sings death

(1)

Dhue ka badal hai zindagi,
ujala dhundte umr kat jaati hai

lamhe lamhe ka hisab kar jita hai aadmi,
maut sabhi hisabo ko chukta kar jaati hai

(2)

Jaateein hai raaja, jaatein hai rank bhi
jaane per koi yaad kare na kare , kya fark padta hai

A biased mind

It seems that majority of us do not have the ability to talk or think about things without bias. In discussions the first thought is what the angle is for me and then the discussion. We hardly stop and appreciate an opposing point of view and rarely admit that the other point of view is correct.

The easiest way to stop the other guy with a different view is to gang up against him/her. If a person comes across taking an unbiased view ganging up is all the more fun.

I attended a roadshow of Gujarat government trying to promote tourism in Gujarat. There I met two Gujarati businessmen and struck up a conversation. The conversation started with talk on the progress of Gujarat and things went well. They liked me and invited me to be part of their group during lunch.

During lunch, I came to know that they were realtors coming up with developments in outskirts of Ahmedabad. Their bullishness/ ignorance could be felt by the larger group. South Indian gentlemen from ILFS who was organizing the road show joined us and chimed in with my Gujarati friends. Another person who was realtor too and had worked across several international and domestic markets expressed a view that there is tremendous supply coming in Ahmedabad and the city is at cyclical high, real estate is a cyclical business and one should be careful.

On this perfectly rational view my two friends and the banker from ILFS pounced on him. They started blaming him for not liking the government and that he was being unfair to Gujarat. On my interjecting that his view had no enmity against Gujarat but was an experienced, rational view which most RE analysts across the world are expressing, I too had it. They told me how Guajarati’s are better than Marwari’s (I am a Marwari) and that I was not convinced that Gujarat can make progress. I, a staunch believer in the results Gujarat has produced ,suddenly felt that if these are the people influencing government decisions than could Gujarat’s progress be more of talk than substance !!!

This illustration is one which demonstrates the general biased mentality which my readers too would have experienced at some point. Although this is generally harmless but the problem is that the policy makers of India too have grown in the same settings and many policies are made with a partial mind. A biased thought process stops growth, harms societies, and complicates things, result in blunders and loss of respect for the biased mind. May be this is something that international schools can change!!!

Oh Indians!!!

While Millions of Indians live in poverty, distrust and fear, A minority beats its chests in international forums claiming India as a democratic superpower. It‘s not uncommon in India to see a cloth less children begging from their effluent countrymen sitting in expensive cars. The gap between the rich minority and the poor majority is growing by the day. India has always been a land of contradictions however this one defines the modern India. The Indian state has provided justice to the resourceful and denied basic amenities of life to the rest. The common man of India faces exploitation, corruption and frustration every minute of his life. He is struggling for basic amenities, while the Rich amass thousands of crores.
To start with, India was established as a democracy by its founding fathers. They imagined an India where there is equal opportunity and justice for every Indian. They imagined a state which was for the people, by the people and of the people. However the Modern India has clearly failed their dream. Government officials have wealth many times what their salary will justify while common man fails to buy a house even after working hard all his life. It is time for us to introspect what went wrong in the last 60 years.
The discussion on how to come up with ideal form of governance to promote inclusive growth has been talked from the time of Romans and Greeks. Plato in his book " The Republic" delves on this topic. The book mentions that if a man could wear a ring which makes him invisible to the world, than that man will become unjust for lack of fear. He called this ring as as “Ring of Gyges” and the invisibility as the cause of problem in society
The ruling class of India has a Ring of Gyges on Its fingers since last 60 years. It is not accountable for anything. Its scams of thousands of crores can be overlooked. Unaccountability has created lack of opportunities for everyone because all the resources have been cornered by them. People have to spend 4-5 hours for commute because the infrastructure has not changed in sixty years while they stash money in their Swiss bank accounts. They live in excesses while the common man lives in misery day after day. I strongly believe that getting rid of this ring will make justice the norm for the fear of consequences of injustice
Could we get rid of this Ring of Gyges. The answer could be a yes. IT can provide solution to this problem. Just imagine a website established by an act of parliament, where anyone can file a complaint against government officials. The complains are fed into an online system which keeps records of these complains across India. As soon as there are 5 complaints against an official the system triggers a report to a special court (adequately manned) for decision within a week. The officer is summoned and the decision is pronounced. Can you see how fear will work to stop corruption?
No system is perfect but if success on online reservation system of railways is anything to go by , this system could remove the Ring of Gyges from all the officials in the country & ensure that the next 60 years bring some hope to India. This is a hypothetical suggestion infested with flaws but a thought to destroy the Ring worn by the officials.
